[For a moment, nothing happens. The camera is focused on a patch of grass. There are rustling sounds and a woman's voice mutters indistinguishably to herself, and eventually the journal is righted so that the camera focuses on Sally's face. There is a leaf in her hair. She does not look happy.]

Right, I think I've worked out what this thing does, and I just want to say that if this is someone's idea of a joke, I'm not laughing. See this? [She lifts up a police badge containing her ID.] This is a police badge. It's my police badge, yeah? It says I'm Sergeant Sally Donovan of London PD, which means that when I find out who's responsible for this, for...this [She gestures down the length of her body, at the dress that isn't hers] and for this [She turns the journal to take in the unfamiliar surroundings] and I don't even know how to start about this [She jerks her thumb over her shoulder at the pair of dark brown wings that definitely aren't supposed to be there] that person or persons are in a world of trouble.

My advice to you, whoever you are, is to come forward immediately. That's less trouble on my part and a lighter sentence for you, so it's in everyone's best interest. Do not make me find you.

[Sally fumes silently for a moment, and when she decides her point has been made, the recording ends.]

My world is called Terca Lumireis. I'm from the capital city, Zaphias.

The apartments are pretty much the same anyway. So long as you're not trying to cram a lot of people into them, they aren't bad. There's usually a list of what's free at the Welcome Center.

The kitchens are shared, though. If you have a bad cook on your floor, you could be in trouble. [Amelia knows. She was the bad cook.]

Well, they've got plenty set up for looking into. I just walked into community building one and took the first empty flat I got to. [ This is literally what he did. Not even lying. ] Not bad so far, if you haven't had a look at it.

...Well, that's a more straightforward approach to apartment-hunting than I've ever had.

I think I've got something figured out now, though.

I've managed to decide on a flat. It's...a lot bigger than the one I have at home. I'm not actually sure what I'm going to do with all the space. [Probably act like most of it isn't there, for simplicity's sake.]

There's only one other person on the floor, so I take it that means we're both self-sufficient enough to cook for ourselves, thankfully.

There was a point in history on my world when nearly everyone smoked, but now there are all sorts of laws against smoking indoors or too near a building. It's getting less common in the city, at least.

Secondhand smoke is bad for the lungs of people who have to be around smokers, and a lot of people don't like the smell and find it disruptive.

Word of advice? Six people living in one of those places doesn't work.

In any case between healing magic and whatever else around here, I don't think you need to worry about the health aspects of it.

I don't worry about it, really - well, not my health, but there are other repercussions. For example, when my boss quit, everyone's workload mysteriously doubled. It turns even ordinarily nice people into raving lunatics.

A house. An apartment.
