[For a moment, nothing happens. The camera is focused on a patch of grass. There are rustling sounds and a woman's voice mutters indistinguishably to herself, and eventually the journal is righted so that the camera focuses on Sally's face. There is a leaf in her hair. She does not look happy.]

Right, I think I've worked out what this thing does, and I just want to say that if this is someone's idea of a joke, I'm not laughing. See this? [She lifts up a police badge containing her ID.] This is a police badge. It's my police badge, yeah? It says I'm Sergeant Sally Donovan of London PD, which means that when I find out who's responsible for this, for...this [She gestures down the length of her body, at the dress that isn't hers] and for this [She turns the journal to take in the unfamiliar surroundings] and I don't even know how to start about this [She jerks her thumb over her shoulder at the pair of dark brown wings that definitely aren't supposed to be there] that person or persons are in a world of trouble.

My advice to you, whoever you are, is to come forward immediately. That's less trouble on my part and a lighter sentence for you, so it's in everyone's best interest. Do not make me find you.

[Sally fumes silently for a moment, and when she decides her point has been made, the recording ends.]

My exercise in patience is performing most of my job. "Hurry up and wait" is sort of the maxim of police work. That and waiting for a shepherd's pie to heat in the microwave after a double shift sustained only by five cups of coffee and the uneaten third of your friend's tuna sandwich.

"Microwave?"

And yeah, the job is why they keep insisting I need more patience, since apparently I can't get less idiots in my life.

It's like a tiny oven that heats food with electricity - erm, with sort of invisible waves of heat rather than with actual fire. Nearly everyone has one in my world.

Little ovens that cook with invisible waves and not heat. So.... Magic? Your world has things like that and doesn't allow smoking? [So never going there.]

Well, at least the smarter ten percent. The rest deserve each other. I'd keep my partner, and lose the rest.

No, it's, erm... [She thinks very, very hard back to her science classes at school.] It involves radiation heating, erm...polarized molecules in food. Something called dielectric heating? Right. It's science, not magic.

Radiation? So like using Kizaru instead of Akainu? That still can't be safe.

Tashigi? Hm. She's got a lot of guts. One of those types that keeps picking herself up and dusting off to get straight back on her feet and go for it again. She's blind as a bat though, which wouldn't be so bad if she'd just keep her damn glasses on. She's also obsessed with swords. Annoyingly so.

Dunno; are those types of radiation where you come from? Microwaves are very safe on my world. I've never heard of one going wrong.

[Sally just raises an eyebrow, because she thinks she knows what this is about.] Right. You like working with her, though?

Kizaru is, Akainu is magma.

Yeah, I wouldn't be able to stand anyone else.

Erm, I honestly don't know what you're talking about, but...what about magma?

Remember how I said I'm smoke? Or that I can turn into and control it at least. There are other logia devil fruit users. Kizaru is light or radiation; Fleet Admiral Sakazuki is made of magma. It'd be like using Kizaru to cook instead fire. It's as strange a mental image as a box that shoots waves like an oven but not heat.

Hn. Better still, I trust her justice.

No offense, mate, but I think my mental image is stranger than yours. And a microwave doesn't shoot waves, it just sort of...well, never mind.

No. So far as I can tell, she's never been in Luceti. Maybe never will.

Ikki the phoenix. Quiet young man with blue hair. Usually he's accompanied by his wolf pup Hyoga these days. Which is good, the dog gets pent up easily.

Why's he called the phoenix?

That's just his nickname from home, like mine is White Hunter.
