So when she hears a familiar voice, she looks up from the task of attempting to shove the chair backward up the first flight of stairs - admittedly having really, really not thought this through - and freezes in moderate to heavy embarrassment.]
...Ordinarily I wouldn't ask, but I really think I do.

[coming over to join the sergeant, she places one hand on the back of the chair, leaning forward to see where it's become jammed on the other side.]
It might be easier if someone was on the other side, guiding it. I think I could climb over there.

Thanks. I really am grateful, but it's a bit humiliating to be caught at this. I don't know many people here, none of them well, and I couldn't exactly pay someone to help. I just convinced myself to stop procrastinating and figure it out as I went along. In retrospect...
[She waves a hand helplessly.]

[it takes a bit of effort to clamber over to the other side, but Jilly does it without hesitation. Once on the stairs, she can get a better look at where the chair has gotten stuck]

I should have waited, but for being so new and different, this place is shockingly dull. Books are all well and good, but I need to keep busy or I get so frustrated, so this was at least a project; something with physical results. [She gives a sheepish smile.] Although it's turning out to be a bit too physical.

I can see where it's stuck. If we tilt it a bit to the right...your left, I guess...it should come free?

[she gives Sally a triumphant smile as she quickly shifts her grip and takes a careful step backwards]
